State Pistol Match Results
On August 12 and 13, 2011, The Norman Police Department Pistol Team hosted and participated in the Dale
DeBerry Memorial Regional and Oklahoma State Police Pistol Competition. Held at the department’s training facility, in partnership with Oklahoma Law Enforcement Shooters Association (OLESA), and Republic Bank, the matches include shooting timed courses of fire from a variety of distances and positions. Participants attended from Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Mississippi.
Members of the pistol team participating in the competition include, Lt Eric Lehenbauer, Lt Chris
Amason, Range Master Shon Elroy, Sgt Robert Wasoski, Sgt Will Crews, Detective David King, Detective
Derrick Hopkins, MPO Brent Barbour, MPO Joshua Barker, Officer Jeremy Garnand and Officer Chris Vinson.
During the Dale DeBerry Memorial Regional; the first day of competition, Lt Lehenbauer ranked 3rd overall in the master class. Sgt Crews ranked first overall in the expert class; MPO Barbour ranked 2 overall in the sharp shooter class, with two first place finishes in individual matches. Officer Garnand ranked 3rd overall in the classified class; Officer Vinson ranked first in the marksmen class, with three first place finishes in individual matches.
On the second day, during the Oklahoma State Pistol Championships, Sgt Wasoski took first place in an individual
match. Sgt Crews took first place in an individual match; Detective Hopkins took
first place in two individual matches. MPO Barbour placed 2nd overall in the sharp shooter class,
along with winning three individual matches; MPO Barker placed 3rd overall in the expert class. Officer
Garnand placed 1st overall in the classified class, along with winning five individual matches. Officer
Vinson placed 1st overall in the marksmen class, along with winning three individual matches.
Eight representatives from the Norman Police Department qualified for the Governor’s 20, a prestigious award consist
of the top shooters from Oklahoma during the state match, who the governor formally recognizes. This year’s qualifiers from Norman include, Lt Eric Lehenbauer, Range Master Shon Elroy, Sgt Will Crews,
Detective David King, MPO Brent Barbour, MPO Joshua Barker, Officer Jeremy Garnand and Officer Chris Vinson.
The Norman Police Department Pistol Team is responsible for firearms training, and with the support of Chief Humphrey
and his administration, team members attend competitions and receive advanced training from agencies across the nation, which they provide to Norman police officers.
