Your Team
In May 2003, Norman Firefighters Jack Ingram, Mike Shuffield, Brian Edwards, Chris Beirne, Jeremy Morris, Justin Burright, and Chad Roney set out for Little Rock Arkansas to establish a position for the Norman Firefighters within the Combat Challenge arena. Jack, Mike, and Chad each chose to run as individuals while the remaining members joined to attack it as a team. While no records were particularly set in Little Rock, they returned with overwhelming enthusiasm and plans to train for their next opportunity to compete. Shortly after their return, it became necessary for a couple of the members to resign, but the
remaining competitors band together to form one team, with one exception, Jack Ingram would continue to run as an individual, as well as fill a position on the team. Along with the physical demands it also became apparent there were going to be some financial burdens as well, so they put together a promotional packet and began to solicit local businesses for sponsorship. O’Connell’s was first to step up to the plate, followed by Wal-Mart, to offer financial support and shortly after that they were offered a “full” sponsorship by YORK International, so with that they became known as “Team York” of Norman!
In September 2003, Jack (Colt), Mike (Skin), Chris (Crash), Brian (Spike), and Jeremy (Rooster), with their newly purchased race gear, headed for Springfield, Missouri with the intent of qualifying for the World Meet in Canada later this year, not only did the team accomplish that goal, but Jack also obtained that same goal by qualifying for World in the individual event! The team would post a time of 1 minute 28 seconds losing to the #1 Team in the nation by only 2 seconds and Jack posted a time of 1 minute 57 seconds as an individual, “Go Jack”, “Go TEAM YORK!”.
