Recycling Preparations

Tips:

  • Empty and rinse containers and remove lids.
  • Additional containers may be bagged in see through plastic bags and placed beside the bin.
  • Extra newspaper may be bagged and placed in paper bags outside the bin.
  • Place container within 3 feet of the curb prior to 7:00 am on the day of collection.
  • Remember not to stack bin on top of polycart.
  • All unacceptable items placed in bin will be left in bin with a note.
  • Return bin to house within 12 hours.
  • Electronics scrap, fluorescent bulbs, or any other recyclable material not accepted curbside can be recycled by contacting the WM Recycle America facility at 5519 NW 4th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73027.

FACTS:

  • 1 glass bottle - The energy saved from recycling 1 glass bottle will light a 100 watt light bulb for 4 hours
  • 1 ton of newspapers saves 17 trees
  • 1 aluminum can - The energy saved from recycling 1 aluminum can will operate a computer for 3 hours
  • 5 plastic soda bottles - 5 recycled plastic soda bottles will make enough fiberfill for one ski jacket
