Profile for Doug Cubberley

Council member Cubberley is a ten year resident of Norman, a graduate of O.U. Law School and an attorney with law partner Philip Redwine. 

Ward Seven generally encompasses an area from Boyd Street to the southern boundary of Norman, bordered on the west by Chautauqua Avenue and on the east by Morland south to Lindsey and by Classen south to Constitution and by the Railroad to the southern border.

Councilmember Cubberley favors open government, strong neighborhoods, responsible and sustainable growth, fiscal responsibility and planning, a diversified funding base for city services, a dynamic retail base, promotion of affordable housing, better maintenance of capital improvements, preservation of open spaces throughout Norman and creation of a river park.

He currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem, member of the Planning and Community Development Committee, Transportation Committee, Employee Health Benefit Committee, and as Chair of the Finance Committee. Councilmember Cubberley has been a member of other committees including 2025 Council Oversight Committee, TIF Oversight Committee, and chaired the Wastewater Site Selection Committee. He is involved in several community and civic organizations, including being a member and past board member of the Norman Kiwanis Club, Norman Chamber of Commerce Weather Committee, and 2004 NPS School Bond Issue Task Force. He has served as president of Madison Elementary School PTA, board president of Eldercare Access Center in OKC, on NPS Citizens Advisory Council, and as past board president of Aging Services, Inc.
