Profile for Carol Dillingham
Councilmember Carol Price Dillingham came to Norman in 1976 with her husband (and Norman native) Larry Dillingham. She was introduced to “all things Norman” by her wonderful in-laws and long-time Norman merchants Max and Adlyn Dillingham (Gordon’s Department Store, later Gordon’s Men’s and Boy’s, downtown) and Gayle Welcher - Co-Ed Shop, Campus Corner).
Carol’s long record of community activities includes service to the Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center, Bethesda, Inc., Ballet Oklahoma, Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, Lyric Theatre, and the Oklahoma Bar Association Law Related Education Committee. She is involved in children’s rights issues; and provides regular pro bono service through Oklahoma Lawyers for Children.
She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois, participates in music programs at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church and has appeared with the Cimarron Circuit Opera Company. Carol also has a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Oklahoma and has enjoyed working as an academic and private sector librarian. Her law degree is from Oklahoma City University, and Carol’s practice focuses on small business and non-profit law.
Carol presently serves on the Council's Finance Committee and serves as the Chair of the Oversight Comittee. She is a member of the Stormwater Master Plan Task Force and the North Porter Corridor Task force. Carol also serves as the Council's representative to the Animal Welfare Oversight Committee and the alternate representative to the Oklahoma Municipal League.
In her spare time, Carol enjoys cooking and baking (anything chocolate), reading and knitting and is an avid calligrapher and lover of book arts. If they leave town, chances are that you can find the Dillinghams in New Mexico or in the mountains of southwest Colorado.
