  • Never give out your logon information to anyone
  • Change your password at least every six months
  • Monitor your children’s activity and set boundaries
  • Use a quality virus protection program and keep it updated
  • Beware the deals too good to be true

Safety Tips for Children

  • It is best to only chat with friends you already know
  • If you chat with other people you do not have to continue to chat with anyone that scares you or makes you uncomfortable Remember!
  • If you do not know who you are chatting with that person could be 45 years old or a boy or a girl, you just don’t know
  • Never give out personal information such as your name, address, school, phone number or friends names
  • Never send a picture of yourself to anyone without getting your parents permission
  • Tell your parents immediately if you get something or read something on the internet that makes you fell uncomfortable
  • Never meet anyone and never have anyone come to see you without your parents permission

Internet Auction Safety

  • Learn everything you can about the auction before you get involved in bidding or selling
  • Use a reputable third party if possible when buying or selling items, this is usually the safest way
  • When buying, learn as much as you can about the seller before bidding
  • There should be no reason for you to give out you social security number or driver’s license number to a buyer or seller
