Annual City Wide Garage Sale Registration

The City of Norman will hold the 11th annual City Wide Garage Sale on July 31st, August 1st, and 2nd, 2015. No City Garage Sale Permit is required for the sales during this time frame. Registration will open on July 17th and close at noon on July 30th.

Current Road Closures as of July 15, 2015

The City of Norman has experienced some severe weather, from a tornado and strong winds to record rainfall. Below is a list of road closures due to flash flooding and wash outs. Please avoid the areas listed until further notice; they are unsafe at this time.

Senior Citizens Center Public Input Sessions

The City of Norman Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting two public input sessions on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 for the purpose of gathering comments and public input for senior citizens center program and facility needs.

May tornado debris removal nearing completion

On Friday, June 26, 2015, the City of Norman will complete its Debris Removal program which was implemented in response to the May 6, 2015 tornado and straight line winds in northwest Norman.

NEW WATER RATES EFFECTIVE MARCH 2, 2015

On January 13, 2015, Norman residents voted on an increase in the water rates for both residential and commercial customers.  The official election results tallied 4,466 "yes" votes and 2,197 "no" votes.

The effective date of the increase is March 2, 2015.  New: July-August Surcharge $0.35 per 1k over 20k

2014 Annual Report

The City of Norman is pleased to announce the release of its 2014 Annual Report. We have highlighted some significant achievements, to include public safety and justice; parks, recreation and library services; community and economic developments; transportation improvements; environmental and utility services; strategic support; revenue/expenditure information; City accolades; and, recognitions and awards achieved by our City departments and our employees.

Norman is wonderful place to live.  History is deep-rooted in our City; education is a major focus; we have an open government which encourages and involves citizen input; our City population is growing; and, we are guided by a strong, competitive retail base.  All of this progress has continued to propel Norman forward.

The accomplishments listed in this report were a team-effort by elected officials, City staff and employees.  We are proud of the dedication of our employees in serving and making a difference in our community.  We hope you find this information useful and thank you for taking the time to stay informed about your community and local government.

Swimming Advisory

Due to possible elevated levels of waterborne coliform bacteria, the City of Norman has advised all citizens to limit contact with the water in the general vicinity of the Canadian River area within Cleveland County, Oklahoma until improvements in treatment systems can be completed at the City of Norman Water Reclamation Facility. Citizens should not drink untreated water.

Storm Water Master Plan

A Storm Water Utility is being considered to provide funding for important capital improvements, water quality enhancements, compliance with state and federal storm water mandates, enhanced maintenance of existing storm water systems, improved street sweeping and other best management practices to better Norman’s storm water and drainage.  On June 19, 2014, the City of Norman held a Public
